What is a padel club and how to organize it
The Americano is probably the most popular and fun padel tournament format. We explain what it is, how it works and how to assemble one without complicating things.
What is an Americano padel player?
In a americano, each player plays with (and against) many different players: the pairs they change every round. The score is individual, so whoever adds the most points or games at the end will win, without depending on a single fixed pair.
It's the social format par excellence: it mixes levels naturally and ensures that everyone plays a lot and knows everyone. That's why it's ideal for groups of friends, club events and get-togethers.
How many players do you need
The minimum is 4 players and 1 court (2 against 2 with rotation). From 8 players on 2 courts The experience improves a lot: there is more variety of pairs and rivals.
How many points do you play?
The two most common scoring formats are:
- 24 points: matches of about 10 minutes. Ideal for social sessions and large groups.
- 32 points: matches of 12 to 15 minutes. Better for a more competitive tournament.
It is played with gold point (without advantages) so that everything flows and times are respected.
How long does it last
An Americano with 8 players at 24 points lasts approximately 1h30. For 12-16 players, calculate 2h-2h30 limiting to 8-10 rounds. Add 30 minutes for the briefing and transitions between rounds.
Tiebreaker criteria
Define them before to start to avoid arguments. The usual order: total points → point difference/games → direct confrontation → golden point from on-court tiebreaker.
